The Lovetown Mavericks are a rock band from Columbus, Ohio playing their own brand of melodic rock originals supported by covers of classic hard rock and blues. Influences from bands like the Beatles, King's X, Queen, the Police, the Who, Rush, and others help shape the Lovetown Mavericks sound. But it's their focus on blending tight vocal harmonies that ultimately sets them apart from their contemporaries.
The bluesy growl of lead vocalist Jason Melick evokes comparisons to Sammy Hagar or Gary Cherone, while the melodic style of Alex "Bonzie" West's bass reflects influences from the likes of Sting and John Paul Jones. Behind them, Danny Little drives the bus from the drums with the combined precision of Neil Peart and the frenzy of Keith Moon.
With songs ranging from the 1960s to the present, the band's live sets feature lots of old stuff, some new stuff, and everything in between. Iconic rock hits from artists like the Beatles, U2, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, and Stevie Ray Vaughn are mixed in with a few 90s to more modern hits by artists like Tonic, Green Day, Alice in Chains, and One Republic.
Each of the members of the Lovetown Mavericks sings and plays multiple instruments. While sharing lead vocal duties, Jason and Bonzie alternate between guitar and bass, and sometimes wander to the drums or keyboards. And drummer Danny Little also sings lead and harmony vocals and occasionally plays keyboards and bass.
